Bachchan's petition likely to be heard tomorrow

The petition was scheduled to be heard on Monday but was deferred till Tuesday by the registry of the court.

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court is likely hear on Tuesday the petition by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, challenging the Faizabad commissioner's order quashing the allotment of land to him in Barabanki district.

The petition was scheduled to be heard on Monday but was deferred till Tuesday by the registry of the court.

The court had on June eight last, while admitting Bachchan's petition, stayed the order of the commissioner.

Additional Commissioner, Faizabad, VS Prasad had on June one last quashed the transfer of farm land in the name of Bachchan.

Bachchan was allotted a piece of farm land in Daulatpur village in Barabanki district during the previous Samajwadi Party regime.

The megastar had recently offered to donate the land to the gram sabha of the village and had written a letter to the Uttar Pradesh government.

The letter was being examined by the government.

Bachchan had also bought two acres of land in the village for setting up a school after his father and noted Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
