CHENNAI: Decks have been cleared for counselling in respect of MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu with the Madras High Court on Tuesday vacating an interim stay granted on it.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice AP Shah and Justice P Jyothimani vacated the interim stay granted on Monday after recording an undertaking given by Advocate General R Vidudhalai.

When the PILs filed by a student and a parent came up for hearing, Vidudhalai gave an undertaking that a clause contained in 2005, 2006 prospectus will be restored for this year also.

The particular clause prohibited students who had got admitted in any other professional colleges from applying for MBBS, BDS courses, provided there was wastage of seats in the college where the student was first admitted.

The High Court had on Tuesday directed the Tamil Nadu government to stop counselling for MBBS/BDS courses till Tuesday after hearing Public Interest Litigations from a student and a parent, who challenged the government's decision to delete the clause in the prospectus.
