Traffic constable hit by two-wheeler

A traffic constable was injured after being allegedly hit by a two-wheeler while on duty in a north-west suburb, police said today.

MUMBAI: A traffic constable was injured after being allegedly hit by a two-wheeler while on duty in a north-west suburb, police said today.

Rajesh Shinde (41) was on duty at the Mahim junction on Sunday when 19-year old Avinash Wade rammed his bike into the traffic constable after jumping a red signal, they said.

Shinde tried to stop Wade as he had jumped the signal and in the process, the biker rammed his vehicle into Shinde, they said, adding that Wade, a student, was arrested.

Wade was released on bail soon while Shinde is recuperating at the police hospital with a fractured leg and some bruises, they added.

This is the second instance of a public servant being injured in last two days. Two constables attached to the Matunga police station were injured after being hit by a speeding car on Saturday.
