AHMEDABAD: Veteran Gandhians and school students on Friday staged a peaceful demonstration at the Gandhi Ashram here against the possible sale of Mahatma's letter by an auction house in London.

The demonstrators sat in the historic Sabarmati ashram premises holding placards in protest of the possible auction of the letters.

"Do not auction the letter of Mahatma Gandhi who is the father of our nation. The letters are a national treasure," read one placard held up by a Gandhian.

"We do not want the auction house to sell the letters of Gandhiji as they are valuable to India. We urge them to give it to the Indian government so that it can be kept in a museum," said Mehul Dave, a school boy.
