NEW DELHI: After its tie-up with Blackberry, Bharti Airtel on Friday announced an exclusive arrangement with High Tech Computers to offer mobile services on the Taiwanese firm's handheld device, which is empowered with Microsoft Windows Mobile platform.

Priced at Rs 19,900, the HTC Touch device would be available from next week for Airtel users in 10 cities, which includes Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Jaipur.

Although company officials did not confirm, the usual period of exclusivity is expected to be 12 months.

The handheld device offers access to Outlook email and the most popular Microsoft Office applications with Windows Mobile 6.

HTC Touch operates on touch screen navigation technology, which enables mobile users to one-touch access to emails, text messages, appointments and contacts, as well as current weather conditions and forecasts of cities around the globe.

"Our partnership with HTC to introduce India's First Touch FLO technology featured mobile phone underlines our commitment to innovation", Bharti Airtel Chief Marketing Officer (Mobile Services) Sanjay Gupta said.

"We confident that the HTC Touch will have a positive impact on the India telecommunications market as it brings a new level of simplicity to the powerful and function-rich device experience that today's mobile consumers demand", HTC Chief Executive Officer Peter Chou said.

The Taiwanese manufacturer of Windows mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs had acquired the popular Asian phone brand, Dopod. HTC already builds phones for Dopod on an ODM (original design manufacturer) basis. From July, Dopod will become an HTC subsidiary.
