'Rights of Indian spies in Pak jails violated'

RAJKOT (GUJRAT): International human rights activist of India Mr. M K Paul has complained of human rights violations of Indian spies, who are languishing in Pakistan jails due to gross negligence by Indian government.

Paul, in his complaint to the chairman and members of National Human Right Commission (NHRC), has stated that various human rights -- right to life, right to liberty, right to live with dignity -- of Indian spies have been violated.

Mr. Paul also delivered the copies of complaint to the press and in his complaint against Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs, in which he alleged that 16 Indian spies, languishing in Pakistan jails, who were sent by the RAW, an Intelligence wing of India to Pakistan and that no efforts were made for their release from Pakistan by the Indian government.

Three spies-Kashmir Singh, Sarabjit Singh and Kirpal Singh -- were served death sentence while serving jail sentence varying from three years to 25 years, he said.

He further alleged that no officer of RAW had cared to pay a courtesy call nor offered words of sympathy to the victim's families.

In his complaint, he said, ''It is very shocking and shameful that dependent family members, old fathers, mothers are not paid a single rupee by the RAW or by the Union Government.''

He alleged that secret fund for the purpose is misused.

He has requested the commission to admit this complaint and look into the seriousness of the subject and deal with it on a top priority basis.
