AHMEDABAD: Former Indian captain Kapil Dev on Tuesday said the outburst of anger shown by fans across the country following the team's debacle in World Cup was totally uncalled for.

"When people are in anger they should not take any decision in haste which could create trouble in future. Whatever we say now it will be wrong," Kapil said.

"Yes, our team has not played well and this is time to sit and take stock of things. We will have to find out the areas, which has led to this failure," he said.

Reacting to India's shocking early elimination from the World Cup, Kapil said, "It is really sad we could not play well and make it to the top eight."

According to him, both India and Pakistan have reached a low in cricket after their performance in the Caribbean.

The 1983 World Cup winning skipper was however all praise for minnows Ireland and Bangladesh for pulling off upset wins to advance into the Super-8 stage.

"I am very happy to see the manner in which Ireland and Bangladesh have played this World Cup. It is very good for cricket," he said.

Kapil, who was here to announce the setting up of the country's biggest indoor cricket arena, said the performance of Bangladesh and Ireland will give a big push to cricket in their own country and also spread the game in other parts of the globe.

1992 World champions Pakistan were knocked out of the mega event after their defeat to Ireland. A similar fate met India after the drubbing against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
