KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear it has no intentions of paying any compensation to the England and Wales Cricket Board from its own coffers for the Oval Test played last year between the two countries.

A senior PCB official, however, said that the PCB was ready to play a one-day international against England this year so that the ECB could recoup some of the revenues it lost during the controversial Test match.

Umpires had awarded the Test to England after Pakistan protested over their decision to penalise them for ball tampering and refused to take the field.

"There is no question of us paying any compensation from our own pocket. But we are willing to play the match," the official said.

The ECB has demanded over 800,000 pounds in compensation from the PCB and have also threatened to take the issue to the disputes resolution committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

PCB and ECB officials are meeting on the 19th in London to resolve the long-standing issue.

The official however said that Pakistan's stance was clear that it was not their fault that the Test was abandoned so there is no way we would pay for the (ECB) losses.

"Our offer to play the match remains valid and the ECB can keep all the earnings of that match. But we would like it to be held when we go to England this June to play the Charity match against India at Lord's," he added.

The ECB had to repay ticket money to the spectators and said they suffered a lot of money because of the forfeiture.
