NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to entertain Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's application seeking modification of its order for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the assets owned by him and his family members.

However, a bench headed by Justice AR Lakshmanan gave liberty to him to file a petition seeking review of the March 1 order.

On Monday, Yadav had filed the petition seeking a stay on the CBI probe till the end of the assembly elections in the state.

The court on March 1 had directed the CBI to hold a preliminary inquiry into the allegations that the chief minister, his son Akilesh Yadav, Lok Sabha member, daughter-in-law Dimple and the other son Prateek had amassed wealth by illegal means and by abusing official authority.
