IMC ladies wing to host international gathering

On the eve of Women’s Day, the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) Ladies Wing is organising ‘Impact 2007’ an International Women’s Day Conclave on the 8th and 9th March.

On the eve of Women’s Day, the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) Ladies Wing is organising ‘Impact 2007’ an International Women’s Day Conclave on the 8th and 9th March. The organisation with a membership of over 1,500 women consists of entrepreneurs, professionals and women from business families.

“The event would focus on taking women’s issues forward and discuss to find out solutions for elevating position of women in Indian society. Being multi faceted, women deal with a range of things including, arts, business and home, hence this conclave will have workshop on all of these,” said Munira Chudasama, president, Ladies Wing.

Speaking on the relevance of the workshop, Anu Aga, Director Thermax Limited, said, “Women are still lagging behind in our country. Female foeticide is still on the rise. Workshops like these help in spreading awareness and come up with solutions to various women’s issues.”

The event will also have a workshop on Rural Entrepreneurs, which will showcase works women achievers from rural areas who have done something for the society at large. A book on ‘Rural Women Entrepreneurs’ will also be launched in this workshop. Some highlights of this event would see Shobhaa De, Author & Columnist talking on media social responsibility, Meera Borwankar, Jt. Commissioner of Police-Crime, speaking on Police social responsibility.

There will also be talks on urban working women, women rights and a workshop on successful daughters in conversation with their eminent parents. This discussion will see Meher Pudumjee, Chairperson, Thermax Limited discussing with Anu Aga; Meghna Ghai Puri, President, Whistling Woods International, discussing with Subhash Ghai, Filmmaker and Chairman, Whistling Woods International.

The conclave which is being supported by DNA will also have special workshops on Art & Culture, healthcare with focus on HIV/AIDS & Diabetes, legal rights of women, including discussion on inheritance, child custody, divorce and abuse.

“The second day of the workshop will be more fun filled with street plays, Salsa dance workshop by Sandip Soparrkar, and a session on skin and hair care workshops by Kaya Skin Clinic,” added Munira. The first day of the conclave will be held at NCPA and at Indian Merchants’ Chamber on 9th.
