3 held, explosive powder, narcotics seized

MUMBAI: Explosive powder, 400 grams of brown sugar and a country-made revolver were seized by the police when three persons were arrested in Kashimira, Thane district, on Friday, a senior police official said.
    
Ramesh Mishra, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested, allegedly with brown sugar valued at over Rs 1.5 crore in the international market and is suspected to be a member of an organised group dealing in narcotics, police said.
 
In another case, the police arrested Bablu Yadav, also a native of Uttar Pradesh, who allegedly had in his possession explosive powder and nails used to make small bombs.
 
Police said, Yadav is suspected to have been ferrying the powder, which has not been identified, to a contact in the city, who would supply it to groups of robbers who used small bombs while robbing places.
 
In the third case, former truck driver Raju Deshmukh was arrested by police and a country-made revolver was allegedly recovered from him.
 
Deshmukh is suspected to be a member of a gang of robbers and police are carrying out further investigations into his activities.
