Court acquits Raja Bhaiya in absence of evidence

He had been charged in the case of rioting and beating up people at the site of an underconstruction Islamia Madarsa in Barai village in 1997.

PRATAPGARH: A court here acquitted Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and 18 others in a ten-year-old criminal case in the absence of concrete evidence.

Judicial Magistrate, Munda, Naresh Kumar acquitted Singh, his father Uday Pratap Singh and cousin and Samajwadi Party MP Akshay Pratap Singh in the case of rioting and beating up people at the site of an underconstruction Islamia Madarsa in Barai village in 1997.

According to the prosecution, none of the witnesses produced in the court deposed that the accused were involved in the case.

Singh was present in the court when the judgement was pronounced.
