MUMBAI: Outside Lilavati Hospital, Bandra, where actor Saif Ali Khan has been admitted since Sunday evening, security is just a little sharper. Reporters, cameramen, and some fans wait for news about the actor’s condition.

While sources at the hospital had said on Sunday that Khan, 36, had suffered a myocardial infarction (a mild heart attack), doctors were tight-lipped. Consultant cardiologist Dr Vivek Mehan, who is treating Khan at the hospital, confirmed on Monday that the actor was out of danger and “doing fine”.

“What he is suffering from is privileged information, which I cannot divulge without his consent,” Mehan said.

Khan’s mother, actress and censor board chief Sharmila Tagore, said: “Doctors have assured us that there is no problem with his heart right now. All the tests were clear, no blockages or clots were detected. But he will be kept in the ICU for another day.”
