DURBAN: Loots Bosman is the only surprise in the 15-member South African squad for the upcoming cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.

Bosman showed his talent during the recent one-day series against India when South Africa thrashed the visitors 4-0.

Graeme Smith will lead the side at the 16-nation quadrennial event starting March 13.

"I am proud and believe in every one selected in this squad," Smith said after the squad was announced in Johannesburg on Thursday.

"We have worked together to make a formidable team over the last 18 months and everyone knows what their specific responsibilities are within the team. We back each other and we will go out and give our best for our country."

Coach Mickey Arthur said, "The squad selected gives us all comfort in the belief that the goals set in preparation for the World Cup have been achieved... our performance at the ICC Champions Trophy and our recent victories against India and Pakistan are an indication of the work put in by everyone."

South Africa in Group A, which also features three-time world champions Australia, Scotland and Holland. They open their campaign against the Netherlands on March 16.

Top two teams from the four groups advance to the second league stage, the Super Eight.

South African squad:
Graeme Smith (captain), Jacques Kallis (vice-captain), Loots Bosman, Mark Boucher, AB De Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Hall, Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Robin Petersen, Shaun Pollock, Ashwell Prince and Roger Telemachus.
