NEW DELHI/BANGALORE: Union Minister of State for Information M H Ambareesh on Wednesday sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to express his anguish over the Cauvery verdict pronounced on February 5.

Ambareesh, who represents Mandya in Lok Sabha, had said the State should pressure the Centre not to notify the award. He had also said that he was willing to lead a delegation of MPs to Manmohan Singh.

“I have resigned owing moral responsibility. In my resignation letter, I have cleared that injustice was done to Karnataka in the final verdict of the Cauvery Tribunal,” he said. He had supported filing of review petition before the tribunal and insisted that all parties should be united on the issue.

Ambareesh had resigned for similar reasons from the Lok Sabha in 2002.
