PUNE: Barring few minor clashes, voting was peaceful in Pune, with a 37 per cent polling average registered till 2 pm.

A ladies ward No 29 identified as 'sensitive' has registered the highest turnout of 50 per cent voters till afternoon, polling officer Dynandev Thube said.

Thube said voting began at 7.30 am amid tight security and voting was peaceful in the city. However, a minor between two groups outside the polling centre at Dehu was reported, but police brought the situation under control immediately. On the city's outskirts, people appeared enthusiastic to vote.

Minor clashes were also reported from the city's industrial belt of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Some people protested against the administration's failure to install cameras in wards declared 'sensitive', however, the situation was under control, Thube added.
