JODHPUR: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to open 'quick service food kiosks' at various railway stations of the country aiming to help the passengers with fresh and hygienic food on platforms.

Initially, IRCTC has selected about 25 railway stations countrywide, including those at Jodhpur and Jaipur, but it would open such kiosks at every important railway station of the country, a senior railway official said.

IRCTC, which is also planning to construct budget hotels near the railway stations, has recently asked the Railway Division to identify land for the kiosk, the official said.

"The proposed kiosks would be allotted on built, operate and transfer (BOT) basis," he said, adding IRCTC is searching for agencies with a minimum annual turnover of Rs 20 crore, which could handle at least 10 kiosks at a time.
