NEW DELHI: AIIMS became the centre of another controversy on Wednesday as a group of medicos laid siege to Director P Venugopal's residence over the issue of re-examination of students who had failed earlier.
The problem started last evening when posters surfaced on the campus declaring that some students, mostly belonging to the pro-reservation group, had failed to clear the re-examination conducted for the unsuccessful candidates of the final tests.
A group of students lay siege to the Director's residence on Wednesday morning demanding an explanation on how the results of the re-examination were leaked out.
They also demanded the resignation of Dean, Examination T D Dogra for allegedly leaking the information.
The students are also demanding that the re-examination be conducted under a different set of examiners as the Governing Body of the institute had ordered.
AIIMS has been a centre of controversy ever since the government declared its intention to introduce quotas for OBCs last year. It was also the hub of the 17-day anti-quota agitation.
It has been in the news for the tussle between Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Venugopal over the control of the premier institute.
