Patil’s record stands at 81

Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil finished his 81st campaign trail meeting in 10 days on Tuesday evening at Ganesh Chowk at DN Nagar in Andheri. He was campaigning for party candidate Sejal Painter and received a rousing welcome from the area’s supporters.

Patil, who held 13 meetings in the city on Tuesday, has been one of the star campaigners in the fray. On Tuesday, he started the day with a meeting at the Worli Police Camp for candidate Sadanand Shetty and marched towards the Western suburbs.

“Apart from pre-planned meetings, he met voters, candidates and party workers everywhere,” said one of his secretaries.  Patil said he was heartened by the positive response. “I tried meeting as many voters as possible,” he said. “In some areas, he campaigned for 4 to 5 candidates together. Whereever I went, the response was positive.”

An official from Patil’s office said, “Patil is perhaps the only leader who has held som many meetings campaigned for over 150 candidates.”
