The  Congress is trying to extract most out of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) — UPA Government’s flagship programme — in the civic polls. With the BJP-Sena launching a strong attack on the Congress for not doing enough for the Mumbai city, the party on Monday asked its ministers in the Centre to counter the point.

The Congress chose a press conference in New Delhi by Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy. Reddy talked about the 12 projects worth Rs 2,808 crore, three important projects of Middle Vaitarna Water Supply, BRIMSTOWARD and Mithi River worth Rs 4000 crore, and yet-to-be-sanctioned six projects worth Rs 1400 crore.

“Mumbai has been on top of and Prime Minister’s mind. We are taking special efforts to see Mumbai becomes a world-class city,” the Minister said.
