MELBOURNE: Daniel Nestor (Canada) and Elena Likhovtseva (Russia) lifted their first Australian Open title on Sunday, beating Belarus pair Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka in the mixed doubles final.

Unseeded Nestor and Likhovtseva won 6-4 6-4 to avenge their loss in the final last year to Martina Hingis and Mahesh Bhupathi.

It was a third Grand Slam doubles titles for Nestor but his first in the mixed, following his successes with Mark Knowles of the Bahamas at the Australian Open in 2002 and the US Open in 2004.

Likhovtseva had won one Grand Slam title -- the mixed doubles at Wimbledon in 2002 with Bhupathi.

It was a double disappointment for Mirnyi who, teamed with Sweden's Jonas Bjorkman, lost the men's doubles final on Saturday to American twins Bob and Mike Bryan.
