Nine-day Brahmotsavam in Tirupathi

TIRUPATHI: The nine-day annual brahmotsavam will be celebrated in the Kalyana Venkateswara temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram about 15 km from Turupathi from Feb 8.

The 'ankurarpanam' would be performed on Februrary 7, a day before the commencement of brahotsavam, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) which is organising the celebrations said on Tuesday

The important days of the utsavam, the 'dwajarahonam (hoisting the temple flag) would be on held on February eight. The utsav deity along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, mounted on a 'garuda vahanam' would be taken in a procession on Februrary 12 through the four streets and the 'rathoutsavam' (car festival) on February 15.

'Chakrasnanam' (the lord disc dip in the temple tank) would be held on February 16, the concluding day of the brahmotsavam while the lowering of dwajavahoranam would be held in the evening.

TTD's Dharma Parachara Parishad (DPP), Annamacharya project and Dasa Sahitya project would make arrangements for conducting harikatha, kolatam, bhajan sankeerthanas and religious discourses during the festival days in the temple premises for devotees, the release added.
