Saddam's execution protested by boycotting US goods

DEHRADUN: A group of intellectuals, politicians, literary figures and journalists protested against the execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein by boycotting American goods.

A resolution was passed by the group at a meeting on Wednesday evening, in which they condemned the US for facilitating the execution of the Iraqi leader.

"In protest against the murder of Saddam Hussein and the US imperialism, we resolve to boycott American goods," said the one-line resolution.

Environmentalist and Chipko movement leader Sunderlal Bahuguna appealed for an awakening in the Indian society following the hanging.

Congress General Secretary Kishor Upadhyay cautioned the third world countries against the nefarious designs of the US saying, hanging Saddam was an attempt to disintegrate Iraq and muzzle the voice of Iraqi people.

Uttarakhand CPI General Secretary Samar Bhandari said that India must unite the third world countries to end the hegemony of America from the global politics.
