Mobile phone saves man thought to be dead

KOHIMA: After lying 'half dead' for nearly five days along with corpse of relatives, an accident victim was rescued by the Dimapur police, thanks to his mobile phone.
 
Thirty-year-old TKamzalian, an assistant manager of NABARD, posted at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, survived after a 300-foot fall along with the vehicle in which he was travelling with his kin.

Kamzalian was going from Itanagar to Churachandpur, Manipur, along with his mother, Ningzanan, 53, brother Langkidlian, 23 and sister Jauniang, 20.

They reached Nagaland on December 15 and went missing after crossing Chumukedima.  

Their relatives informed the police on December 17 about the incident, confirming that Kamzalian's mobile phone was active up to Medziphema between Dimapur and Kohima.

Taking the clue, the police carried out search operations along the National Highway 39.

Finally they spotted the vehicle on Wednesday. Kamzalian, the only person who was alive, was taken to private nursing home where he is reported to be out of danger.

However, he was in a state of trauma, doctors said on Thursday.

Kamzalian was alive for five days without food and warm clothes in the extreme winter conditions of Nagaland, the police said.
