Congress candidate Punjilal Parmar on Thursday won the Dungarpur assembly bypoll defeating his nearest rival Suramal Parmar of ruling BJP by a margin of 9879 votes.

JAIPUR: Congress candidate Punjilal Parmar on Thursday won the Dungarpur assembly bypoll defeating his nearest rival Suramal Parmar of ruling BJP by a margin of 9879 votes.
Punjilal polled 49,069 votes while Suramal got 39188 votes. Independent candidate Vela Ram polled 6143 votes, election officials said.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Nathu Ram Ahari last August.
About 58 per cent electorates exercised their franchise in the December 4 bypoll.
