NEW DELHI: The Delhi Master Plan 2021, to address the capital's civic problems like unauthorised colonies and constructions, will be finalised by January-end, the government announced in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

In the wake of the situation created by the Supreme Court's order on sealing, the government said the "antiquated" MCD Act and DDA Act would be reviewed and several steps would be taken to provide relief to lakhs of affected people.

Replying to a debate on the sealing issue, Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said hundreds of roads would soon be notified where shops would be spared from sealing.

He said 1400 unauthorised colonies would also be regularised soon and one lakh houses built for poor people.

A provision had also been made under the September 7 government notification to allow schools, operating from residential areas, to continue functioning beyond May 2007, Reddy said.
