The BCCI is contemplating measures to ensure players perform better. There is a proposal to link payments to what they do on field, incorporating a penalty clause for poor performance.

It has been suggested that the match fee be reduced to 60%when players lose a match. But there will be an incentive to win. Each time the team succeeds, they will get 140% of the agreed match fee. The plan met with a lot of debate within BCCI. Ratnakar Shetty said that it was being discussed even before the team left for South Africa.
