Ranjan Mathai new Indian ambassador to France

Mathai will succeed T C A Rangachari, who has sought early retirement in view of his being superseded by his junior officer Shivshankar Mennon as foreign secretary.

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday named Ranjan Mathai, Deputy High Commissioner in London, as its new ambassador to France.

Mathai will succeed T C A Rangachari, who has sought early retirement in view of his being superseded by his junior officer Shivshankar Mennon as foreign secretary.

Mathai is expected to take up his new assignment shortly, External Affairs Ministry said.

The government also posted S Jaishankar, Joint Secretary in External Affairs Ministry, as High Commissioner to Singapore.

He will take up the new assignment from Alok Prasad.
