Former Test umpire Reuben dead

MUMBAI: Former Test cricket umpire Judah Reuben died on Monday. He was 84. He is survived by wife and three daughters.

Reuben was admitted to a Mumbai hospital after he had a fall at his residence a few days ago but had been discharged and was at his Mumbai home when he died, sources close to him said.

Reuben had made his international debut by officiating in the 1969-70 Test series between Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi-led India and Bill Lawry's visiting Australian team at Kolkata.

Reuben, who worked as a finger print expert in the fingerprint branch of the Mumbai CID, officiated in 10 official and two unofficial Tests. He had later shifted to Pune.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear this news and would like to take this opportunity to pass on our sincere condolences to Reuben's family and friends," the ICC said.
