BEIRUT: Five Shi'ite Muslim ministers from Hezbollah and its ally, Amal movement, resigned from Lebanon's government on Saturday, a joint statement from the two pro-Syrian groups said.

The five, the only Shi'ite ministers in the 24-member Western-backed government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, are the ministers of foreign affairs, agriculture, health, energy and labour.

Their resignation follows the collapse earlier in the day of talks on Hezbollah's demand to have more say in the government.
