NEW DELHI: The sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the capital is unlikely to resume on Tuesday as the MCD said it is yet to receive any direction from the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee on modalities of the drive.

"We can confidently assume that there will be no sealing tomorrow as we have not received any direction from the panel. MCD has to go by what the panel says, when to do and where to go," senior officials in the civic body said.

Asked when the meeting with the court-appointed committee will take place, the officials said they have not got any intimation regarding this from the panel so far.

"The meeting is expected to take place tomorrow," they added.

In a major setback to over 40,000 traders, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant any relief to them from the sealing drive and came down heavily on the Government for its inability to carry out the operation.

Traders in the national capital have called a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday to protest resumption of sealing drive.
