An eight-year-old boy was killed and three friends injured after they found and played with an abandoned hand grenade in Kashmir, police said on Sunday.

SRINAGAR: An eight-year-old boy was killed and three friends seriously injured after they found and played with an abandoned hand grenade in Kashmir, police said on Sunday. 
 
Muntazar Mushtaq was killed instantly when the grenade exploded in Bandipore, a police spokesman said.
 
"The grenade was lying in a paddock when the boys picked it up and started playing with it," he said, adding the injured were in "critical condition".
