KOCHI:  A couple who lost two of their children to the tsunami waves which struck Alapad in Kerala's Alapuzha district in 2004, were blessed with twins at a hospital here.

The joy of Lizzy and Srijith, who lost their daughter Alishajit (8) and son Kalidasan (4), knew no bounds as they held their newborns.

The children were born through a caesarean section on October 30 at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences here and the mother and kids are doing fine, hospital sources said.

Lizzy, who had undergone sterilisation earlier, underwent re-canalisation treatment for getting pregnant again.

Eight women, who had lost their children to tsunami, had undergone the treatment at the hospital. Of them one couple had a baby girl a month ago.

The hospital sources said they had given free treatment to all these families.
