NEW DELHI: The MCD on Saturday expressed its inability before the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring Committee to resume the sealing drive from November one in view of the three-day traders' bandh and the 'tense' situation prevailing in the capital.

This was conveyed to the monitoring panel by MCD Commissioner A K Nigam when he met the three-member body on Saturday, civic sources said.

The Commissioner apprised the panel about the situation in the capital and sought more time to resume the drive against commercial establishments operating in residential premises, sources said.

Nigam also asked the committee to take a considerate view of the sealing issue and told them that the fresh dates for the resumption of the drive could be taken after consulting the panel, sources said.

The traders have already given a three-day bandh call from October 30. Last time, in a similar bandh called by them against the sealing had turned violent and had claimed five lives during the protests.
