Bhansali, others gets bail in Black fire case

A sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Bhansali in connection with a case related to the fire on the sets of his film 'Black'.

MUMBAI: A sessions court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali along with another accused in connection with a case related to the fire on the sets of his film Black.

Bhansali had sought anticipatory bail fearing arrest in a case filed against him under the Essential Commodities Act.

The court granted Bhansali bail on a surety of Rs 10,000 and directed him and the co-accused to attend police inquiry on Sundays and Mondays till the chargesheet is filed.

Antique dealer Farida Hoosainally had said she had rented out rare antique furniture for Bhansali's film Black, which was burnt in a fire on the sets of the movie during the shooting.

Besides claiming damages for burnt furniture, Hoosainally also filed a police case against Bhansali and other directors of Applause Bhansali Film, a production company which produced Black, alleging that during the shooting, domestic LPG cylinders which are prohibited, were used.
