NEW DELHI: Udit Narayan, the popular playback singer, recently in news more for his personal life than his singing, had another run-in with the law on Thursday. He ended up spending two hours in a local police station for a breach of contract charge.

According to the police complaint, Udit Narayan was to perform in the CR park area of south Delhi on Thursday night for two hours from 9.30pm to 11:30pm in lieu of Rs3 lakhs. However, Narayan reached the function at 10.30pm, an hour late and after performing for forty-five minutes, decided to leave. At this the organisers were incensed and blocked his way. He was mobbed and some of the organisers even manhandled him.

The local police, which was called in, had a tough time controlling the agitated crowd. He was taken to the Kalkaji police station and kept there for two hours. The organisers wanted their money back. However, a compromise was reached and no FIR was lodged.
