SIT has approached Tehelka for the tapes

NEW DELHI: A recent expose by a publication is likely to put back the reinvestigation in the Jessica Lall murder case back on track, with focus on the prime accused Manu Sharma.

A Star-Tehelka sting telecast on Tuesday proved that actor Shayan Munshi could speak fluent Hindi and other two witnesses Shivdas and Karan Rajput were paid and threatened by the accused to keep quiet.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigative Team (SIT) formed to reinvestigate the case, has approached Tehelka’s office for the tapes. While nobody in the SIT was willing to comment, off record the cops admit that the sting would certainly bring back the reinvestigation on the track.

“For long the SIT had been running after fringe players like Bina Ramani, now it should be under pressure to go after the real culprits,” said a police officer who was unwilling to be quoted.

The SIT after six months of its formation has nothing concrete to show in its investigation, apart from registering a case against socialite Bina Ramani and
attaching the property of one of the absconding accused.
