Sensex up by 60 pts at opening

The Sensex, which rose 61 points in previous trading, recorded another 59.55 points at 12,130.85 in first five minutes of trade.

MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex on Tuesday opened firm and soon rose by 59.55 points on increased funds buying in blue chip shares.

 

The BSE-30 sensitive index opened firm at 12,103.44 as against yesterday's close of 12,071.30 and rose further smartly by 59.55 points to 12,130.85 within the first five minutes of trading and later was quoted at 12,113.11 at 10.10 am, still higher than Monday.

 

Foreign Institutional Investors were the major buyers in cash segment with a net purchase of Rs 459.00 crores on September 15 and a total of Rs 1,470 crores in the last three days of the previous week.

 

Some of the major gainers at the opening session were RIL, Bajaj Auto, ONGC, Bharti, Tata Steel, Ranbaxy, ICICI Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank, L&T, NTPC and Grasim.

 

However, TCS, SBI, Infosys Tech, Wipro and ACC were weak on lack of support.
