National Games from Feb 9 to 18, 2007 in Guwahati

The 33rd National Games will be held in Guwahati from February 9 to February 18 next year, Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi announced on Saturday.

GUWAHATI: The 33rd National Games will be held in Guwahati from February 9 to February 18 next year, Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi announced on Saturday.

 

Kalmadi made the announcement at the meeting of the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) and the local organisation committee held at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati.

 

Kalmadi said work in the various stadia being constructed for the Games was 90 per cent complete and the remaining 10 per cent would be completed much before time.

 

He expressed satisfaction over the infrastructure which he said was "modern and of international standards".

 

Various committees like transport, accommodation, food, dope testing and communication for the Games were formed in the meeting.

 

GTCC Chairman K P Singh Deo lauded the Assam Government and the organisers of the Games for putting in place world-class facilities.

 

Kalmadi and Deo also discussed various details concerned with the Games with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

 

Kalmadi had visited the newly constructed Sarusajai Main Stadium, the Games Village and Deepor Beel on Saturday.
