CHENNAI: Telugu film director K Kalyana Chakravarthy would make a cinema entitled "Vande Mataram" roping in top stars from southern India.

"The idea is to trace the history of the song 'Vande Mataram," Chakravarthy said.

"The song is 130 years old and about 99 different versions have been recorded over 100 years," the director said, disclosing noted Carnatic musician M Balamuralikrishna, who is the 100th composer and singer of this song may be persuaded to play a role in the film.

He may be playing the part of a saint, the director said.

"I am trying to rope in superstar Rajnikant and matinee idol Chiranjeevi to play the roles of disciples," he added.

The film will be in 10 Indian languages. "We want to complete the movie in 180 call sheets," the director added. The film will be completed in about nine months.

The recording of the song "Vande Mataram" was completed this week.
