Sensex down by 33 points in early trade

The Sensex fell by over 33 points in early trade on Friday on selling by foreign as well as domestic funds in select index-related stocks.

MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex, fell by over 33 points in early trade on Friday on selling by foreign as well as domestic funds in select index-related stocks.

The 30-share sensitive index, which had lost about 24 points yesterday, fell further by 33.40 points at 11,666.01 points in the first five minutes of trading while the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty shed 11.00 points at 3,402.90.

Stock brokers said the price movements remained extremely narrow as market players adopted cautious approach after reports of DLF Ltd withdrawing its mega IPO.

They said small buying activities were witnessed in midcap and smallcap stocks.

The major losers were BHEL, ACC, Satyam Computer, ITC Ltd, HDFC Ltd., Infosys Technologies, Hero Honda and State Bank of India.
