Heavy rains disrupt train services in Orissa

Train services between Dunguripalli and Khaliapali stations under Sambalpur division had been disrupted since Wednesday as the approach to a railway bridge had been washed away following heavy rains, East Coast Railway sources said.

BHUBANESWAR: Train services between Dunguripalli and Khaliapali stations under Sambalpur division had been disrupted since Wednesday as the approach to a railway bridge had been washed away following heavy rains, East Coast Railway sources said.

The damage, which occurred 75 km from Sambalpur, was being attended to by railway engineers and workers.

As a result, several trains in the Sambalpur and Titilagarh sections had either been cancelled or short terminated on Thursday, sources said.

The 8005 Howrah-Koraput Samaleswari Express had been terminated at Sambalpur and would run as 8006 Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express from Sambalpur to Howrah.

Similarly, 8006 Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express leaving Koraput on Thursday would be terminated at Titilagarh and would run as 8005 Howrah-Koraput Samaleswari express from Titilagarh to Koraput.

The 333 Bilaspur-Kantabanji passenger train had been short terminated at Sambalpur and would run as the 334 Kantabanji-Bilaspur passenger from Sambalpur to Bilaspur. The passenger service between Sambalpur and Kantabanji had been cancelled as also the 8301/8302 Sambalpur-Rayagada Express, sources said.
