It’s payback time. While it was reported that suspended police sub-inspector and encounter specialist Daya Nayak visited Lucknow in connection with the serial bomb blasts investigation, sources close to Nayak told DNA that Nayak had gone to visit the Sahus—his former employer in Mumbai. The Sahus had a tea stall in Versova called Sagar Kinara, where Nayak worked as an errand boy when he was  a teenager.

Later, Nayak joined the Mumbai police and the Sahus moved to Lucknow after closing down the stall.

“Nayak had in fact planned to visit the Sahus in Lucknow before the bomb blast took place as he had not forgotten the help he got from them. He visited their house last week and stayed there for two to three days before returning to Mumbai,” sources said. They also said Nayak’s inputs, like many other present and ex-crime branch officers, was being sought for the blast investigations.

Nayak, who had a quiet birthday celebration on Saturday, refused to comment on his visit to Lucknow.
