NEW DELHI: Police on Friday arrested one person and detained two minors in connection with the hoax bomb scare in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which triggered a massive search of the premier institute on Wednesday.

Lokesh Dahal, a medicine supplier from whose mobile phone the call was made to the police control room claiming that a bomb has been planted at AIIMS, was arrested from Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, police said.

The man in his early thirties has, however, denied the charges and told police that two schoolboys, who were his neighbours, have made the phone call.

Police seized the mobile phone from him and detained the minor brothers for questioning.

AIIMS had witnessed anxious moments on Wednesday when bomb disposal squads scoured through its sprawling campus here following the phone call about explosives being planted in the institute.

A series of hoax bomb threats and an e-mail threatening to carry out attacks here had triggered massive searches of India Gate, Red Fort, Akshardham Temple and Gurdwara Sis Ganj since the serial blasts in Mumbai suburban trains on July 11.

Police had earlier arrested a youth from North-East Delhi for making three hoax phone calls claiming that explosives were planted at Akshardham Temple, Gurdwara Sis Ganj and India Gate.
