MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar was declared fit to return to the national squad on Tuesday, a day before he was scheduled to appear for a fitness test.

Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said ‘the little master’ had recovered. “Tendulkar has been declared fit by physiotherapist John Gloster. He will be eligible for selection for the Sri Lanka tri-series, Shah said.”

The statement contradicted what selection committee chairman Kiran More’s recent announcement saying Tendulkar’s fitness would be assessed on July 19.

But Shah said there was nothing wrong in declaring Tendulkar fit before the test. “Tendulkar has been undergoing graded physical testing under Gloster and he has made satisfactory progress.

More also said he has no problem with the physio’s report.

The team for the tri-series will be selected in Mumbai tomorrow.
