Latest developments at the G8 summit

Following are developments at the Group of Eight summit in St Petersburg, Russia.       

* G8 leaders tell Hizbollah to free abducted Israelisoldiers and end attacks on Israel and call Israel to exercise restraint   

 * French President Jacques Chirac said the G8 was calling for a ceasefire. United States flatly denies ceasefire call   

 * U.N. Security Council to start working on a G8 proposal for a new military observer force for Lebanon   

 * G8 brings in leaders of Brazil, China, India, Mexico andSouth Africa as guests to work on World Trade Organisation deal   

 * G8 trade negotiators and WTO chief Pascal Lamy to broker a breakthrough on the stalled Doha round of trade talks   

 * Assistance to Africa to be discussed at G8 meeting attended by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and African Union
