KATHMANDU: Three Nepali ambassadors who were recalled by the government have not yet got in touch with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The missing ambassadors are Prajwol Shumsher Rana, who was serving in France, Rameshananda Vaidhya in Japan and Karna Dhoj Adhikary in India, according to a report in The Himalayan Times on Friday.

The government recalled these ambassadors along with nine others, who were appointed by the previous royal regime. “The ambassadors from Paris, Tokyo and New Delhi have not come in contact with the ministry, but we know they have left the respective embassies,” MoFA spokesperson Yadav Khanal said.

He added that there were vacancies for ambassadors in some 13 countries including Russia, the United States, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Japan, India and China. Minister of Foreign Affairs K P Oli has been saying time and again that the government will soon send envoys to those embassies and also take action against those who were recalled but did not return.

However, officials say that there is no provision to take such action against those ambassadors.
