Serial blasts tragic, says Lalu

Describing the massive serial train blasts in Mumbai as ''tragic and dastardly'', Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said his ministry would launch all possible relief operations to mitigate the sufferings of the victims.

NEW DELHI: Describing the massive serial train blasts in Mumbai as ''tragic and dastardly'', Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said his ministry would launch all possible relief operations to mitigate the sufferings of the victims.
 
Before his departure for Mumbai along with his deputy Naranbhai J Rathwa, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Railway Board Chairman JP Batra, Prasad said several people had lost their lives in the ''horrendous'' serial blasts.
 
''This is a moment of great sorrow and utter tragedy. We are prepared for the challenge. My ministry is fully geared towards providing relief to the victims,'' he said.
 
He lauded the exemplary efforts of the people of Mumbai in providing relief to the victims and rescuing some of the commuters.
 
A K Suri, Director General, Railway Protection Force, is part of the high-level team that left for Mumbai.
