MUMBAI: Mira Road now has a media school that will impart training in Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Film Making and Photography, and other areas related to mass media.

The Academy for Media Research and Studies (AMRAS) has opened admissions for mass media courses at Mira Road.

Headed by veteran media person Abhay Mokashi, the academy's main branch is on the Mira-Bhayandar Road, with a branch at Vile Parle (West).

Mokashi is probably the best-known name in media training, with his students working in major newspapers, television channels, advertising agencies and public relations firms.

A renowned journalist, he is known for investigative stories, including one that toppled a government in Maharashtra and his expose on starvation deaths in Kutch that forced the Gujarat government to create 3.5 lakh jobs for rural poor.

Mokashi gives students training that will help them get jobs.

Students will be trained under some of the finest names in mass media, who are good teachers and for whom teaching is a passion, rather than a profession.

The Mira Road branch has courses in Creative Writing, News Anchoring and Voice Modulation too. There are courses for graduates and undergraduates.
