80-year-old woman raped, murdered in Noida

NOIDA: An 80-year-old woman was raped and murdered Sunday by one of her neighbours here, an area adjoining the national capital, police said.

The woman was sleeping when Manbir, a labourer, entered her house and assaulted her, police said. "The family members of the woman were sleeping on the terrace while she was alone in the house," said Soumitra Yadav, superintendent of police, Noida.

Yadav added that Manbir was arrested soon after the family members found the woman dead in the morning and he had confessed to the crime.

He added that Manbir had strangled the woman to death. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
